Can I modify the language in the Coaching Contract?
My client is getting hung up on the verbiage. Can I modify certain terminology in the Coaching Contract? For example, can I change the word ‘stakeholder’ to ‘co-worker?’
Yes, change the language to suit you and the client. Don’t get hung up on the linguistics of the contract. Stakeholders are people who support the coach. They are people who hold a stake in the leader’s effectiveness. Sometimes you may see them referred to as assistant coaches or other terms. In the leader’s day to day life they refer to their stakeholders as direct report or peer; or they’ll simply use the stakeholder’s name. The important aspect is leveraging the stakeholders. What you call them is up to you.
