Can I share a sample Action Plan during the contracting phase?

Although it is relatively easy to share an Action Plan early on, it is not advised.  The reason is that it creates a ‘path of less resistance.’  For example, if you show them a ready-made plan for improving the goal ‘Clear Communication,’ it becomes lower-resistance to set ‘Clear Communication’ as the goal regardless of the need.  This, as a result, incentivizes picking the wrong goal; OR to use action items from the sample rather than from stakeholders.  We recommend offering to provide a sample Action Plan when the leader reaches their own action planning stage.  When you share a sample plan, consider showing the plan for a growth goal unrelated to the leader’s goal to prevent them attempting to adopt items from the sample.
